The new stage show Matilda The Musical has been a great success in its run at at the Courtyard Theatre in Straftford Upon Avon but now finds it's way onto the West End stage to delight London audiences young and old alike.  The RSC production of Matilda, by Tim Minchkin and Dennis Kelly, and directed by Matthew Warchus was one of the most talked about musical stage shows of 2010 and it has more than lived up to expectations to become one of the most acclaimed musicals to feature in England for a long time so a transfer to the West End was almost inevitable and Matilda finally arrives in London October 2011 and begins a run at the Cambridge Theatre, replacing “Chicago The Musical”, which had been resident there since 2006.


Matilda The Musical is, of course, adapted from the classic children’s book by Roald Dahl, which was published in 1988 and made into a feature film in 1996, so as a result the story has already had plenty of admirers. The show focuses on a young girl blessed with an extraordinary talent and intellect and from an early age she is able to find and pinpoint the wrongdoings in adults and read her way through the local library at breakneck pace. Whilst at school however, her talents go far beyond mere intellect - she is granted the miracle of psychokinetic powers and she uses them to teach all those around her a lesson.


The cast of Matilda The Musical includes Paul Kaye, Bertie Carvel, Lauren Ward and Josie Walker. It is made up of some of the actors who have already cut their teeth in the show at the Courtyard Theatre and also features Marc Antolin, Michael Kent, Melanie La Barrie, Verity Bentham, Matthew Malthouse, Alastair Parker, Nick Searle, Emily Shaw.
